Born in 1984, he lives in Krakow. With the help of his exhibitions and particular works, Łukasz Jastrubczak builds a multi-level structure. In his work, he confronts popular cinema (especially science-fiction) with the aesthetics of avant-garde movements, testing their mythology.
Łukasz’s works are left in the desert and in the forest; they float up into the sky or are sent by post, where they become deformed. He collaborates with imaginary characters and uses psychokinetic powers to create his sculptures. He usually uses of cheap materials, and by the same token, ones that are not durable, thanks to which his works can be thought of as being part of the prestidigital and alchemical tradition of “activities using everyday objects”.
